Listening to you speak your post is like having you here with a cup of coffee, keeping me company during my anxiety laden holiday prep...you are so peace giving my friend😘
I feel the same about you, friend. Your family is in for a treat with all the beauty you have prepared for them. Happy Thanksgiving, I am so grateful for your friendship.
How incredible are the bees! I didn’t know anything about them but your writing certainly helps me step into the story and imagine myself there. Thanks for sharing this!
Thank you for stopping by, Ellen! Yes, the bees are an endless supply of fascination and inspiration. It's nice to revisit this story from time to time to remind myself of that!
"This life is a gift." Amen, dear Laura. I wish you and your loved ones a special day of thankfulness. I am very grateful for your friendship and your writing! I'm eager to try your recipe, too, it sounds yummy! (You don't need to enter me in the drawing, since I have--and love--your book already.) Sending a hug from Atlanta!
Enjoy your time with family, Karen! I am so grateful for your friendship and am so glad God brought our writer-hearts together! Sending much love to you on this day of thanks.
Laura, yes, yes, I hear you -->'As I slipped into one of those lovely front-opening hospital gowns prior to the deed, I whispered a little prayer of thanks for good medical care, for the faithfulness of this body I live in, and for the joy of being alive and breathing on this beautiful November morning. Take care of yourself, friends. This life is a gift.'
Thank you for sharing your writing with us, Laura. Your Substack is such a place of beauty and tenderness. Wishing you and yours a cozy Thanksgiving and weekend.
Bethany, you are the kindest friend! This makes me happy that you feel this way. It's exactly what I have hoped for this space. Much love to you, friend, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Yes, Laura, I always feel calm and able to know that I’ll enjoy this holiday despite the many tasks that must be completed ! Thank you for your writing .
I'm so grateful for you, Ada! You are one of my blessings. We will have a quieter Thanksgiving than usual, but we will still enjoy all the goodness of the holiday!
Laura, this was a great reminder. I think my mom will appreciate this book for Christmas. I love the way you tie the ordinary things of nature with the divine.
Thank you, April! I hope it is a message that transcends the passage of time. Praying a bountiful feast for you and yours tomorrow. So grateful for you, friend.
Laura, that excerpt is so beautiful! My youngest son and I love watching bees. They are so precious. We also believe bees will be in heaven and look forward to giving them little pets on their sweet, fuzzy black and yellow sweaters without worrying about stings! 🐝 Thank you for sharing this! Grateful for someone like you who reminds us to find God’s glory in His sweet, majestic creatures!
Thank you so much, Julie! That is a lovely thought about the bees and their little "sweaters." Made me smile today. Happy Thanksgiving, friend. May the day be full of beautiful blessings.
"Playdates with God": I recall reviewing that. I will try to find it and post it on Substack where my followers haven't read it. Perhaps it will generate a few sales.
Fascinating facts about the bees, which I think are such a special invention by God.
I'm glad you are on Substack so we can keep in touch easily after my move. All the years that have gone by . . . . You are a delight!
Thank you, Maureen! Yes, I do believe you did review it at one time. This little trip to the apiary was one of two I made while writing the book and it is a precious memory. Your friendship is a delight to me as well! It will be nice to be able to check in on you here on Substack in the future. Happiest of Thanksgivings to you, even in the midst of all the busy-ness you are facing right now!
Love this Laura. You write so well. Bees have been a passion of mine ever since making a short documentary on challenges facing bees, like the foulbrood virus at the time, and habitat loss etc , back when we were living in our semi-arid Cape Town and western Cape province. If you've got a copy of the book going, I'll get one as a gift for my son and daughter, who I'll see at Christmas. And I'll try making the dip !
Angus, you are so kind. Thank you! Bees are a delight and this little trip to the apiary is one of my fondest memories. I dk if it will be cost-effective for me to send you a copy of the book, since you are so far away! I would have to figure in the postage. Will you DM me your address and I will try to figure out how that would work? It makes me happy enough that you asked. Thank you, friend.

Preaching to myself, Linda! But, yes--take care of you, friend. Hope your day of thanks has been a beautiful one! (I'm still digesting)

I scheduled my yearly mammogram for Monday of this week. Great minds think alike. 🙂
Indeed they do, Jennifer! Good for you. I pray for good results. Thanks for stopping in here and many blessings this Thanksgiving.
